Eligibility Criteria For AISSEE 2024
To appear in the Sainik school examination, the candidate must fulfil the criteria given below:
For admission to Class VI:
- To be eligible for admission to Class VI, a candidate must fall within the age range of 10 to 12 years as of March 31, 2024. In other words, the candidate's birth date should be between April 1, 2012, and March 31, 2014, inclusive of both days, for enrollment in the academic year 2024-25.
For admission to Class IX:
- To be considered for admission to Class IX, a candidate must be in the age range of 13 to 15 years as of March 31, 2024. In simpler terms, the candidate's birth date should fall between April 1, 2009, and March 31, 2011, including both of these days, for enrollment in the academic year 2024-25.
- He/She should have passed the Class VIII exam from a recognized school at the time of admission.
However, certain relaxations in the age are given to the children of war widows, children of active duty members of the Indian Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces, and handicapped ex-servicemen.

Medium Of Examination
For admission to Class IX, only English is accepted as the medium of instruction. For admission to Class VI, candidates can choose from the following language options for their medium of instruction: English, Marathi, Hindi, Odiya, Assamese, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Gujarati, Telugu, Kannada, Urdu, and Malayalam.
Passing Marks For Admission
To be eligible for admission to Sainik Schools, a candidate must achieve a minimum of 25% marks in each subject of the exam and at least 40% marks in the aggregate of all subjects in AISSEE 2024. Admission decisions will be based on e-counselling, the merit list of AISSEE 2024, medical fitness, and the verification of necessary documents.
However, candidates from the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe category are not required to achieve any minimum marks. They will be admitted based on their relative merit within their respective categories, provided they meet eligibility requirements, pass the medical fitness examination, and complete document verification.
If an SC/ST/OBC(NCL) category candidate qualifies in the general merit category, they will be admitted against a general seat and will not be counted against the reserved share of SC/ST/OBC(NCL) seats.
How To Apply For AISSEE 2024?
- Access the official AISSEE website at https://aissee.nta.nic.in.
- Click on the "Application Form AISSEE 2024" link.
- Initiate the online registration process by providing your mobile number and email address.
- Complete the personal details section, including information such as name, date of birth, parent’s name, gender, state of domicile, category, annual family income, and Aadhar Card details.

- Furnish qualification details, including the exam name, school name and location, result mode, and marks/percentage obtained.
- Fill in additional details, indicating if you are the child of a Sainik School employee and whether you have previously taken the AISSEE exam.
- Upload necessary documents, including a recent passport-size photograph, signature, thumb impression, birth certificate, domicile certificate, caste certificate (if applicable), and service certificate (for defence category-serving), along with PPO for ex-servicemen.
- Make the online payment of the application fee, based on your category (General/ Wards of Defense Personnel/ NC-OBC or SC/ST).
- Review all provided details and submit the application form.
- Retain a copy of the confirmation of the application form and the payment receipt for future reference.
